What is Forest Management?dave scaling

Landowners arrive at the decision to practice forest management for a number of different reasons including financial/investment; a commitment to environmental sustainability; retirement planning; recreation; wildlife habitat; water quality management; biodiversity management; and commitment to good stewardship.

The planning process that forest management requires begins with a meeting between a licensed professional forester and the landowner to determine both long and short range goals the landowner has. The plan that is developed will be a useful road map that the landowner and future generations will be able to follow.

Like a financial plan, a management plan can be an important part of an investment portfolio. The management plan can be as sophisticated or as simple as a landowner requires and is an ever evolving plan that should be updated periodically.
